St. Nicholas-St. Mary School Core Values
At St. Nicholas-St. Mary School, we believe that:
· Students and parents should be educated in the Catholic Faith
· The school provides a spiritually sound and academically excellent education
· The school prepares faith-filled and life-long leaders dedicated to serving the church and society
St. Nicholas-St. Mary School believes that a child’s personal development and moral judgment are related to his/her growth in faith and self-esteem. The school strives to integrate the Gospel message into the whole structure of the student’s life. It also enables the student to grow in a sense of self by selecting activities that promote a positive self-concept, satisfaction from learning, and a desire to explore the resources of home, school, and community. The child is encouraged to translate into action the values thus learned so that he/she can make sound and independent judgments as he/she becomes a maturing Christian. Each child is encouraged to participate in school and community activities. Through such activities, the student can learn the importance of self-esteem and the necessity of being sensitive to the rights and dignity of each person regardless of social, religious, or cultural background. Self-confidence is strengthened through individual and group projects, which enhance the student’s opportunities for future social involvement.
