1. What grade levels does SNSM have?
St. Nicholas-St. Mary School teaches children from Pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade. Our Pre-Kindergarten accepts 3-year-olds and 4-year-olds. A child must be 3, 4, or 5 by September 30 in order to enroll in our Pre-K or Kindergarten programs.
2. Is there busing to SNSM?
There is busing available for students in Kindergarten through 8th grade and it is provided by the local school district. School districts that bus to us are: Wilkes-Barre Area, Hanover Area, Greater Nanticoke Area, Dallas Area, Wyoming Valley West, Pittston Area, Wyoming Area, and Crestwood. If you do not live in one of these school districts, you will be responsible for transporting your child to and from school.
3. Does SNSM have after-care?
Yes, we have our own after-care program staffed by our teachers. It is open to any student and is available from after dismissal until 6:00. The cost is $5 an hour for one child and $8 for two children.
4. What specials do SNSM students have?
All students receive weekly instruction in Art, Music, Physical Education, Computers, and Library.
5. Do you have to be Catholic to attend SNSM?
While all children will receive daily religious instruction and learn the Catholic faith, students of any faith background are welcome at our school.
6. What is the tuition?
For the 2015-16 school year, the tuition is as follows: In K through 8, child who belongs to a Catholic parish, the tuition is $4,575.00. For a non-Catholic student in K through 8, the tuition is $5,375.00 There are second, third, and fourth child discounts available.
7. Is tuition assistance available?
Tuition assistance is available through the Diocese of Scranton Scholarship Foundation. Contact the school for more information about this and other tuition reduction opportunities.
